Gini on the road...
If you know me - you know I like to travel..
close to home on foot or on my bike -
around my country in my "Lima Bean" van -
around the world.
My favorite activities are watching people and capturing images.
I am particularly fond of eyes and smiles.
At home I am a psychologist which is only a little bit different.
I am not interested in any picture I can buy on a postcard or a shot that everyone takes. I am interested in how a unique moment lives on when it is captured in a photograph. Digital photography allows the photographer and the subject to share an experience of the visual image without the need for a common language.
I have been told that people in foreign countries are resentful that we "Americans" want to take pictures. Whenever possible I try to catch the person's eye - and ask "May I take your photo." In numerous countries from Malaysia to Guatemala only once has someone said no. She replied through the guide that she was too close to the end of her life - she then offered her daughter.
People who ask about a trip fall into numerous categories - most just wanting to know that you are glad you went, had a good time and came back safe and healthy. This website is for others who want to know what a trip was like day by day. I have developed this site and blog for those people. Out of thousands of shots I've tried to pick photographs that together represent the experiences I've had.
I don't capture moments in words the way many of my friends do. My spelling and grammar aren't always perfect.
But I do my best.

Obviously the photos of me were NOT taken by me.
